Background on the Series
This is the history of the series.
How it all began
The story begins, as you all know, with Sunlit Snowdrift. The idea came to me while watching my cat, Cleopatra(Cleo) play around. It struck me that deep down, she was just as fierce as any warrior, and deserved to be portrayed in a story that, I think, describes her life as it would be.
As for Windstar, my best friend had been very attatched to her tomcat, Snowflake, a gorgeous white cat with-you guessed it-green eyes. When he died, I felt so bad, that I decided to portray him as the other protagonist in my story. After all, Dreamstar needed a partner in crime, right?
Calicofur... well, she was just a figment in my imagination I thought up, not based on anyone at all.
Though Calicofur is very near and dear to my heart, I have to say that it was the most fun to write about Dreamstar and Windstar, in the beginning Windpaw and Dreampaw. The way the interacted with each other was so much fun... I even had their expression in my head!
The decision to make Blackstar evil again was at first just because I didn't like him much, and still don't. Actually, Windstar was originally going to be just a warrior in the Clan. Then it hit me: what if one of the cats who was supposed to defeat Blackstar was his son? And even more exciting, what if he followed through with it? Ouch!
Since I've been rambling on about how great she is, you may be surprised to hear that Dreamstar was slated to die in Invasion, the part where she fell was supposed to be permanent. Birdpaw was also originally going to be taken to ShadowClan, before I decided that that was too overdone. But anyway, Windstar was originally going to gather strength from her spirit and kill Robinpelt on his own. Windchaser, Dreamcatcher, originally going to be titled, Lost Dreams, was supposed to be mainly about how Calicofur had to- well, I'll show you some of what I wrote in the page, 'The Scraps'. Anyway, I decided I couldn't kill off my beloved Dreamstar-too hard. And she has quite a following. Anyway, I might have to part with some major characters in this book... we'll see.
